New Ultrasound

We had our second ultrasound today! Last time she was measuring about 6 days smaller than her gestational age. So, we had another one today just to make sure she's growing alright. She's still measuring about a week small. As long as she's healthy, I feel pretty good about a small baby and kind of hope she stays that way :-) I meet with the doctor tomorrow, so I'll know then if we're changing her due date. I really hope she comes close to when she's planned for (June 21st), because week later and she'll arrive with the Olympic Trials. She moved throughout this ultrasound too. In fact, she moves all the time. I had hopes of having a calm, slow moving baby :-), but it looks like we may get a very active baby! I'm enjoying the time now when she can move all around and she's really contained! I'm not sure if we'll have another ultrasound, but if we do, you can be sure there will be pictures here.

This is the front view of her little face.

New Art

Sandy and I discovered a local artist at Saturday Market last summer. Her name is Noelle Dass. We really enjoy her art and decided to use it in the baby's room. We were able to purchase one of her pieces and love it. The other day I was painting with Amy and decided to try to copy one of Noelle's pieces. How fun. So, here are a few of my attempts at imitating art. If you would like to see more of her stuff (and you should) you can go to her website at www.noelledass.com

Turtle with big feet (my title, not Noelle's)

The lighting is not great, but this might be my favorite.

I love the snaile and it's not quite so gray
in real life...sooo cute.

This one took the most time. A monkey for
a jungle room.

Again, go to www.noelledass.com to see the good stuff!

All in a week

Whew! I know that I'm not even 6 months yet, but my belly feels huge. I've already given in and purchased some slip on shoes :-) I'm posting a few of the pictures that I wasn't able to last week.
Oh, and also, Sandy felt her move for the first time last night. Now he asks me, "Is she moving now?" I'm enjoying feeling her move and so excited we can enjoy her together.
It's also exciting to feel about much she loves music. Today during the singing at church, she started dancing again! We're excited to see who this little moving, wiggling bundle turns out to be.

This is another picture from 22 weeks!

Sandy and I all dressed up for his concert!

22 Weeks (5 1/2 Months)

Whew! This last week my belly has, as they say, popped! I can no longer "suck it in." :-) So far it's been fun noticing how these body changes affect everyday things. First of all, I have noticed that my belly is at counter height. So when I lean in to wash my hands or do the dishes, I squish her. It still isn't too much of a problem but I'm interested to see what happens in a month or two. I also am in the market for some comfy slip on shoes. My favorite shoes tie and that's getting a bit uncomfortable.
I've been noticing her kicks and movement more and more - which has been delightful. I am enjoying them as much as I can before they get uncomfortable - as I have been assured they will. For now, I smile when she moves around. So far she seems to like music the most. We're excited to see if that continues after she arrives. I have more pictures to post, but they are not cooperating. I'll try again tomorrow.

Papa's Singing

Sandy had a concert last night called 'Poetry and Song.' (or poetry in song?) Sheesh, well whatever it was called, Sandy sang first. During his singing, peanut started kicking as hard as I've felt yet. I was just delighted and have decided that she knows her papa's voice and was dancing along. What a precious moment. I'm excited for more precious moments after she has actually arrived.
Several people have asked if we have a name yet. I have been saying that we have 30 names. This is of course an exaggeration. We do, however, have a long list of names. We'll spread the word when we have one. We aren't too worried yet seeing as we have a few more months. If we still have a list of 30 by June, we may be asking for help :-)

Diary of a Crazy Pregnant Lady

I have officially entered the weird zone of pregnancy. Actually, I think most of the things I've been experiencing would probably happen to me anyway - it's just now that I can blame them on pregnancy :-)
First, belts. I have recently discovered that women-belts are not nearly as cool as man-belts. First of all woman-belt buckles have a way higher chance of being really ugly. But the coolest thing is that man-belts can be reversible. Sandy has this great belt that is brown on one side and black on the other.....um, can we say amazing? Woman-belts don't do that. You just have to buy two belts. I have recently found myself in need of a maternity belt seeing as none of mine fit (another thing I'm blaming on pregnancy :-) Unfortunately for poor Sandy, his belt is perfect. Needless to say, Sandy still needed his belt and I am the proud new owner of a reversible man-belt. I may never go back!

Ok, so that's just a quirky thing. My week got weirder...or at least I did.

On Tuesday at about 1:30, I looked at my hands and realized that the finger joints and thumbs of both hands had turned blue...yeah...blue. So, being the social butterfly with hypochondriac tendencies that I am, I talked to everybody at work. "Have you ever seen blue finger joints? "I wonder why my hands are blue?" Nobody at school had heard of blue hands as a side effect of pregnancy. My OB's office told me to call my general practitioner. My general practitioner couldn't get me in and told me to go to Urgent Care. The thought of waiting at Urgent Care for six hours just to say, "Um, my hands turned blue today," was not all that appealing. When I got home from work, my hands were still blue, but seeing as they did not hurt I decided to wait until the next day just to see what happened. The next day? My fingers weren't blue anymore........oh what had I been wearing? A new pair of dark wash jeans. Yup, my fingers were blue from the pockets of my new pants. I'm a dork.
