Two Weeks

Hurray, Adalie has been here for two weeks today! I have a handful of pictures of her (and friends), so I'll list them here. All is going well with our new little family. I'm having a hard time taking it as easy as I need to be. I love getting out of the house and seeing people or running errands. My body, however, is telling me that I need to be staying home a bit more....we'll see if I listen :-) Oh, and she has her two week Dr.'s appointment tomorrow, so I"ll let you know how she's doing.

Yes, she does sometimes open her eyes.

I try so hard to catch these little smiles. I know they're reflexes, but I love them.

What's not to love about a wee little foot.

Adalie has discovered her fingers. In this photo, she had found her thumb (which she was quite pleased with). But, she was a little annoyed with the other four fingers that were somehow in her face.

Flora and Henry came over to drop off some fruit. Henry decided that laying on the floor was not for him. Here are Addi and Flora...soo cute.

Sweet sleeping baby.

Ok, I LOVE this outfit. Nana Lindsay gave it to her and it is sooo cute. Today was the second day that she's worn it. Today is also the second day that Adalie has spit up ALL OVER IT. (Caps for emphasis). I'm just going to keep washing it and trying to get out of the house with her in it before she's too big.

She loves her fingers.

Fun with new friends

Ok, so I blatantly stole these from Amy's blog. Addi and I went over to the Green's house on Monday. We introduced Adalie to the twins. Ethan was particularly excited when he learned her name and kept saying 'Addi' or 'Ada' over and over again. We had a wonderful time - it's fun to think about our kids being friends too :-)

Confessions of a Short-Hair Girl

Last fall I once again decided to grow out my hair. It is the decision I make most every fall. I make the same decision because very short hair is quite cold in the winter and I do not look good in hats. I also decided this year to grow it out “just one more time” before having it short forever. You see, I am a short-hair girl. I have known this for some time, though have continued to fight it.

Last fall, I asked Katrina and Amy to help support me through growing my hair out. Their job was to talk me out of cutting my hair when I felt myself giving in. They did remarkably well and as a result, my hair was the longest it has been in 7 years.

I say “was” because I learned something while preparing for labor. I learned that I cannot go from ‘pixie’ to ponytail in nine months. I learned that I can not pull my hair back into a pony tail – but rather the double pony from 1992. Alas, jr. high is not the look I am going for.

So, I cut my hair. I feel so much more like myself. Hurray for being a short-hair girl. Thank you to Amy and Katrina for your valiant efforts. Hopefully, I will have learned my lesson and will buy a cute hat sometime this fall. J

Hurray for short hair again!!!

Faces of Adalie

Kenton, Katrina and Finn came over today to visit Addi. Finn was very excited to see the baby AND the cars that Sandy brought out. Finn did a great job being very gentle with her and talked a lot about the baby. Katrina brought her camera (hurray) and took some great pictures of Adalie. I'm posting a bunch of them here, because they are soooo cute.
This is our blog now - Addi's photo album :-)

Ooooooohhh!Soooo, sleepy

Bring Adalie Home

Hello all! Here's the fun baby update. We were able to bring Addi home on Wednesday after much waiting. It turns out that there's a lot to do before leaving the hospital :-) Sandy's parents helped us get home and then had to leave. They are very excited about coming back for Sandy's recital. My mom was able to stay here and help - thank goodness.
We've so been enjoying our sweet girl. She is rather amazing. She sleeps all the time and makes the most wonderful little lovey noises. When we first got home, she was quite full of air and did not like to be on her back. Her carseat has become her temporary bed. We have been seriously spoiled. She's such a good sleeper (when her little belly is not full of air).
My dad drove up last night and we had a great day with the five of us. We all ventured out to run some errands today. Addi did very well and slept the whole time. She makes some of the cutest little noises when she is waking up, so we have enough time to get home before we're in trouble. After dinner we ventured out to Alton Baker park. I have been wanting to go on a walk for months without being able to. It was wonderful. We ran into several groups of jr. highers from First Baptist on a video scavenger hunt. It turns out they needed someone pushing a stroller. We were happy to help. We also saw a Nutria. S/he was swimming around the duck pond. It came out of the water right by us. We have been on several walks with my parents since we moved here four years ago trying to see one. Tonight we succeeded. Ew!
We are looking forward to introducing her to all of you soon (next week :-) Thanks for all of your prayers and support. We'll be a little off the radar for awhile, but sure like you a lot!!!

New family on a walk....hurray!
Adalie is seriously covered up because
she HATES the sun in her eyes (naturally)
and there were mosquitos.

And Adalie Nicole makes 3!

Well, Adalie Nicole Miller has arrived!!!!! We welcomed her yesterday 6/16/08 at 10:25am. She weighed 6 lbs 15 oz. and was 19" (length mostly do to her crazy conehead). Nicole was a rock star once the pushing began, all the nurses and doctor said so. Dad, me which seems a bit surreal, got to go home briefly to try and sleep, I got a bout of the flu last night so not only was I no help I slept on the bathroom floor the hospital. Good times! I'm pretty out of it so this is a quick update with a few pictures! Enjoy!

Waiting....on the couch

Here's a little update on peanut! We went to the doctor on Friday. She took my blood pressure and said, "Your blood pressure is horrendous." So, that was new. She explained that I was done working and that I was to spend the weekend as a couch potato. We're going back in on Monday to see if the modified bed rest helped. If it did, then great - I'll be on the couch for the next week or so. If it didn't help, then we'll look at inducing me sometime this next week.
Sandy has his jury for his voice recital on Tuesday. This basically means that he has to have his whole recital prepared and the professors choose about 1/2 hour from all of his music. They have to pass him for him to actually do the recital in July. The doctor said the earliest we would do anything would be Tuesday night, so we're hopeful that he'll be done with everything from school before the baby comes :-)
It's been nice to rest - knowing that we'll be very busy once she comes. We'll keep you updated! Here we go!
