On August 2nd, Adalie and I went to visit our friend Jen Hunt up in Portland. We were excited to find out that we had several fun options of things to do. We first hopped on the MAX and headed to Hillsboro. It turns out that Hillsboro attempts to break a World Record every year. This year it was to have the most people playing the kazoo at the same time. We arrived just in time to participate. We got our instruments and listened to the man with the microphone. He let us know that we would be kazoo-ing the Do, Re, Me song from Sound of Music for FIVE MINUTES. The crowd gave a collective gasp, but we were committed. We all actually sounded pretty good. Though, by the time we were heading through the song for the third time, Jen and I were adding embellishments (which naturally much improved the song). After we finished, we headed back to Portland to head down to the riverfront. We went watch the Flutzeug. It's basically where each team has built a flying boat which they shove off of a pier. Whichever team goes the furthest wins. It's very funny - I'm bummed I don't have any pictures because there were sooo many people there.
We went and had a wonderful lunch and got to watch Jen's husband Brian playing Ultimate Frisbee. All in all it was a wonderful day - with the exception of it being way too short.
Adalie is a champ in the car and slept most of the day. This was the practice drive in preparation for driving to Walla Walla for my brother Tim's wedding.
