Four Month Appointment

Adalie had her four month appointment yesterday. She was peaceful and her regular great self (not knowing what was about to come). We learned that she is now 15lbs. 10oz. and 25 inches long. It's amazing to know that she's basically grown a little over 5 inches in four months. Can you imagine how huge we would be if we continued growing at that rate? Yikes!
The doctor declared Addi to be "perfect" and "so adorable". We like our doctor very much :-) Adalie then had her shots. She cried significantly more than at her two month appointment. I've heard it gets worse as kids gain some insight to the fact that you, their parent, are colluding with mean doctors to hurt them. This was the first time that her crying really affected me. Before this, I was able to let her know that she was ok. This time was much harder. I think because she started doing the sobbing thing and it sounded like me when I cry. Whew! I'm glad we're through with this for now...well at least until December 15th (six month appointment).

MIddle of October

This is a random week at our house.

Addi has this turtle named Myrtle. Addi LOVES her.
She wraps both arms and legs around her and bites her
on the face.

Sittin up like a big girl

She used to hate having a hood on, but
now she does not seem to be bothered by it.
I love that her eyes disappear when she smiles. :-)

She likes chewing on everything

Every year our church has a barn party. Addi was a cow.
Sandy and I tried to be farmers, but weren't creative enough,
so we went as REI-organic farmers.

Adalie talking

This is another video of Adalie talking. It's great! Enjoy!

Adalie's big day

This is how the evening started. We were trying to keep her awake a little longer - she's been waking up every morning at two - which is not the schedule we'd like to have :-) It turns out that Addi likes to be either upside down or flopping around. We then decided that it might be fun to try to feed her some rice cereal.

This is sweet Addi having her first bite of rice cereal. She thought the
the whole endeavor was very funny. She did manage to get
some of it down. Sandy and I had a great time.

Cereal mostly down her front.

Yeah, we definitely had to take a bath after.

She's starting to kick and splash in the bath. We have a good time.

Since most of the cereal went down her front, we're probably not going to try
this everyday. It was a valiant first try. We ended up putting the rest of the cereal
in her bottle. Then almost slept through the night (hurray for not waking up at two.)

Little Peanut

Sandy's sister, Joy gave Adalie this awesome onesie. We LOVE it. It's still a bit big on Addi, which is great - she can wear it longer.

Turtle Love

Last summer we were able to go to Monterey with Sandy's family. It was a fantastic vacation - about a month before Addi was on her way. We bought a stuffed Turtle, named Murtle for the then hoped for baby. Even though it was for the baby, I ended up using it a lot during my pregnancy. It has the perfect amount of stuffing. It's a little bit mushed now, but still great. We introduced it to Adalie this week. She loves it. She wraps her arms and legs around it and bites her face - that means she likes her.

Fourth Months

Adalie is four months old today! Hurray! I've included some awesome pictures ( as always ). Her doctor's appointment isn't until the end of October. Ah well, we know that she's about 14 and a half pounds. Yeah, she's perfect and round. We love her. I'll blog more about our lives this weekend - this post is just for Addi :-)

Four month old - we bought Addi (us) this chair
because she really loves sitting up. She'll sit in
this thing for a long time just chewing on something.

Big eyes!

Our little snow bunny! She's so adorable,
but she actually hated the hood. :-)

We went on a walk with Addi. This is the closest
we come to all fitting in the frame.

Three and half months

Sheesh, three and a half months goes by quickly. Adalie is so very grown up already. I am very thankful for my friend, Emily's advice to enjoy each stage; to not be so anxious for the next milestone to happen. We have thoroughly enjoyed each little place we've been with Addi - even the middle of the night feedings. Yes, I'm tired, but it's a special time that I get with her :-)
This last week was much harder, however. I (Nicole) got a horrible cold. I ended up staying home from work part of two days. Today is the first day in a week that I feel a little better at all. Even though the week was a bummer, I did make an amazing discovery. They make Kleenex with Vicks in them. I LOVE them! Even as a write this, I'm sniffing my kleenex. (sigh)
Sandy was finishing getting over his cold this week. He's got some more applications out and we continue to be hopeful that the right job will find us. We continue to pray for patience as we find ourselves jealous of each other's role in our little family. So many lessons to learn.

Addi has just figured out how to look into the camera.
It's makes getting these shots so much better.
She really loves chewing.....on everything.

This week, she's also gotten better at holding the bottle.
(Not so much in this shot :-)

She does this funny thing when you kiss her cheek. She
always opens her mouth whether she's hungry or not.
She will in fact literally chew on your face if you let her.

Try'n on Papa's hat.

Yeah, so my friend, Rikki came over to visit today.
At the end of her visit, Rikki said, "what's that on
her leg?" I looked, and sure enough. It was poo.
These next two pictures are pretty much for
the out of towners! Enjoy

She actually drooled on my shoulder and managed
to get poo on MY pants too. She is very talented.

Tummy-Time.

Family Visits

This weekend, my (Nicole) parents were able to come visit. We had a wonderful time. Addi is beginning to talk more and more. She definitely wanted to talk to Grammy and Grandad about her day and life in general. She also has begun drooling like crazy! Fun times. We went out on the town a bit, but mostly stayed home. Our little family has been dealing with a pretty nasty cold, but managed to be well enough to enjoy a great visit.

Yeah, it's her thumb.

She's very serious
